What does it look like practically for the gospel to shape your specific work?

It’s easy to talk theoretically about how our faith should shape our work. But you want to know what that looks like practically for your specific work as an entrepreneur, teacher, writer, landscaper, etc.

  • If you work for yourself, you want to know how to manage the tension between trusting God and hustling to produce results in your business.
  • If you work from home, you want to know how your job matters for eternity when your opportunities to share the gospel are few and far between.
  • If you work as a manager, you want to know how you can extend mercy to your team without neglecting the call for excellence from your heavenly and earthly bosses.

These types of questions are where the rubber meets the proverbial road. But in my experience, it’s almost impossible to answer them without being connected to other Christ-followers who do similar work.

That’s why I created The Word Before Work Community: to help you deepen the connection between the gospel and your specific work alongside other Christians in your vocational field.

Upon joining, you’ll gain access to three core member benefits:

Vocational Small Groups

A small group of people who share your vocation and commitment to Jesus. Your group will meet virtually twice a month to discuss The Word Before Work devotionals, workshop workplace challenges, and pray for each other. You'll also have a space to connect with your group online in between your live meetings!

"If you are looking for a community of people who share your passion for seeing God glorified through their work, I cannot recommend The Word Before Work Community highly enough. It has been really accessible for me. The Slack group and the daily devotionals, just give me ways to just check in when I want to and on my schedule without feeling like it's another to-do on my list. I would encourage anyone else who is checking it out to give it a try."

Bonus: The Unabridged Gospel Course

See how your work matters for eternity even when you're not sharing the gospel with your co-workers

If you walk into a random church today and ask someone to explain the gospel, I’m willing to bet you’d hear something like, “The gospel is the good news that Jesus took the punishment for our sins.”

This is what I call The Abridged Gospel, because while those words are gloriously true, they are only a fraction of what Jesus called “the gospel of the kingdom.”

What does this mean for you and your work? Everything. Because if Jesus only came to “save sinners,” then the only way your work matters for eternity is if you leverage your work to the instrumental end of evangelism. And while that is, of course, a God-glorifying, God-commanded thing to do, it is far from the only way your work matters to God.

If we're going to get a bigger vision for the purpose of our work, we have to get a bigger, more accurate picture of the gospel. And for the first time ever publicly, I’m teaching systematically on that subject in a new course called The Unabridged Gospel! Over the course of 6 videos, you’ll learn:

  • The 3 biggest problems with The Abridged Gospel
  • What the mission of humankind is through the “5 Acts” of redemptive history
  • 11 reasons to believe your work has instrumental and intrinsic eternal value

And here’s the best part: This course is yours for free if you join The Word Before Work Community today!

Got Questions?

I've got answers!

All groups gather every other Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. EST. Can't make a call? No worries! Every call is recorded for you to watch later on.

Yes! Everything that’s offered live in the community is also archived for you to watch later on, including Vocational Small Group meetings and Office Hours.

Nothing! Here’s the deal: Nobody is going to have perfect attendance to a meeting that occurs twice a month. Your group will have grace with your absence just as I’m sure you’ll have grace with them!

We’ll refund 100% of your first month’s membership—no questions asked. Just email me at [email protected]. But I seriously doubt this is going to happen. My audience is nearly 150,000 strong, global, and incredibly diverse vocationally. We should have no problem matching you with a relevant group!

Yes! If you want to join the community just for the Daily Devotional and Office Hour calls, you are more than welcome to!
